Golden Eagle G Nanjing: A Fusion of History and Modernity

Yang Bangsheng's Award-Winning Design Merges Tradition with Trendy Lifestyle

Yang Bangsheng drew inspiration from the city's history, specifically the Qinhuai Culture, which resonates with the brand's spirit. The Qinhuai River, a symbol of Nanjing's history and culture, serves as the design theme. Stories of ancient Chinese scholars that took place along the riverside are translated into decorative elements through modern design techniques. This approach allows the charm of history to collide and mingle with contemporary fashion and vitality within the space.

The design's unique properties lie in its successful fusion of historical and modern elements. Cultural elements associated with the river, such as the ancient city gate, city wall, and Yuhua Stone, are incorporated into the space using modern materials like metal, stone, and glass. This transformation turns the depth of history into fashion and lightness, filling the space with a sense of the future.

The realization of this design was not without its challenges. Traditional Chinese culture emphasizes stability, etiquette, and moderation, while a fashion brand aims to break rules, set a style, and draw attention. Balancing these seemingly contradictory cultures was the primary challenge. The solution was found in the creation of an artistic bar at the atrium, which not only attracts guests' attention but also serves as a transport hub to other spaces.

Spanning an area of 37,000 square meters, the project began in 2017 in Nanjing and was completed in September 2019. The design team, which included Yang Bangsheng, Huang Shengguang, and Tan Jiesheng, conducted thorough research into the regional culture of Nanjing, selecting the Qinhuai River as the origin of the design.

The Golden Eagle G Hotel Nanjing is not just a testament to Yang Bangsheng's design prowess but also a tribute to Nanjing's rich history and culture. It was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
